The clean lines of AyA's Stanton doors are the perfect complement to the sleek ebony oak Manhattan cabinetry featured throughout the award winning Tip Top Lofts condominium. Spectacularly located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, this historic 1929 Art Deco building was restored and added to by Toronto developer Context Developments. Winner of a number of prestigious awards, including the Greater Toronto Homebuilders Association "Project of the Year" as well as international interior design awards, Tip Top Lofts is "a shining example of how to preserve a landmark historic building and combine it with a modern addition."
In keeping with the modern theme, stainless steel appliances integrate seamlessly with the tall (42" high) Stanton doors, part of AyA's newly expanded GlassWorks collection. The cooking area is the focal point of this hip loft kitchen and is flanked by a tall pantry unit and built-in fridge tower with applied ebony panels. The frosted glass backsplash adds an additional element of depth as well as complementing the etched glass inserts of the Stanton doors.
The tall vertical thrust of this back wall is balanced by the minimalist horizontal lines of a large modernist inspired island which doubles as a breakfast bar. The clean lines of the thin profile charcoal quartz countertop top off this sophisticated arrangement. In the words of one of the judges awarding Tip Top "Best of Canada" in Canadian Interiors 6th annual design competition, "this is a real step forward for contemporary design."
