MANUFACTURING
AYA is a 180,000 square foot state of the art facility which blends the best of modern high tech manufacturing technology and fully integrated information technology systems with old world craftsmanship and attention to detail. Leveraging efficiencies from technology and optimizing material utilization enables AyA to manufacture extraordinary quality cabinetry at down to earth prices.

THE PROCESS
Various departments involved in completing your order. For AyA quality is always the motivating factor in establishing a relationship with a supplier and although we negotiate the best possible price to pass on our quality at extremely competitive prices, we will not sacrifice quality for low cost items. All the gables and shelves required to create the cabinet 'boxes' are cut using high precision, state of the art, computer driven saws which are accurate to fractions of a millimeter. Each order is placed on a pallet and moved from the cutting department through a system of conveyers to the machining area. Bar coding technology and our 'made to order' production philosophy enables AYA to color match all visible edges of the box to the final door color. Furthermore all pieces are precision drilled and dowelled and glued (not screwed) to ensure that the cabinets are solid and square. In simple terms there are two components to every kitchen - doors and boxes. Unlike many of our competitors, AyA manufactures most of our wood doors in house. The reason is simple - to optimize materials and control quality! We have created an environmentally controlled work place, using a water vapor system which distributes a mist to keep all wood inventory in a stable humidity environment to reduce potential movement after finishing. In addition all doors are constructed with either mortise and tennon joinery or for our mitre doors finger joinery to ensure the doors are as stable as possible. Using the latest innovative techniques, AyA's three step on line finishing system applies environmentally friendly low HAPS stain, sealer and top coat in sealed spray booths which are then dried using ultra violet rays resulting in an incredibly short drying time and a very durable low luster furniture quality finish. AyA keeps emissions to a minimum by employing the most up to date recycling technologies and by choosing environmentally friendly options wherever possible.

By finishing both standard and premium colours online, AyA is able to maintain an exceptionally high level of consistency of finish without sacrificing capacity. It also allows AyA's off line finishing to focus on value added handcrafted finishes such as our blackened, frosted and glazed finishes.
From the machining and drilling areas the gables and shelves are ready to be assembled. It is in assembly that the boxes are put together using a very strong method of glue and dowel construction. AyA uses this method of box construction because of its inherent strength, and because it enables the use of a veneer finished end which has been factory pressed onto engineered board rather than applied later. A factory pressed veneer creates the strongest bond possible so the veneer will never bubble in finishing, and there is no 'seam' or black line showing where the veneer is attached. The result is a very clean, well designed 'box' which is now ready for drawers.

AyA's standard drawer system, a white single walled steel drawer side system , has a dynamic load bearing of 25kg. The first generation steel used has low shrinkage values, high side stability and excellent runner properties for the life of the furniture. AyA uses a higher wall in the pots and drawers which have a dampened drawer side system application to ensure easy action and smooth transitions when opening and closing. All the drawers have a three dimensional front adjustment allowing the drawer front to be adjusted side, height and tilt.
Each cabinet and accessory is individually wrapped, barcoded and scanned to ensure completeness. As cabinets are made to order, the cabinets spend very little if any time on the warehouse floor resulting in more expedient delivery and less damage.
