Karen’s niece, Rebecca Borg, passed away from acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) in 2002. Part of Rebecca’s legacy was the vision of the transformation of the once very sterile, cold patient’s lounge at Princess Margaret Hospital into a room that patients could hang out with friends and family.
